A cheap electric airsoft gun can get you started in the world of gun shooting, and is a great start for entry level competitors in airsoft war games. They are common products and can be found online or at most of the various shopping stores in the U.S. such as Wall Mart or K Mart.

Electric airsoft guns use a battery to mechanically force air through a piston propelling the BB. Cheap AS pistols use 4 AAA batteries and cheap rifles use a larger rechargeable battery. The one drawback to cheap electric guns is their limited firepower. Most do not hold many rounds (200 or less for the rifles) and fire at speeds of around 200 feet per second, much less than the more expensive 900 feet per second rifles. Airsoft guns were first created to be near exact replicas of real weapons used in military combat and were purchased by gun aficionados, but since the advent of the fully automatic rifle there has been a growing interest in using the weapons for sport.

Cheap airsoft guns can be very effective in short range combat and since little investment is needed, upgrading at a later date is very possible.
