  Airsoft Guns

Airsoft is a 1: 1 scaled replica firearm made of either metal or plastic. It usually fires 6mm pellets weighing 110-600 milligrams. They are known as bbs, short for ball bearing or big ball. The sport of airsoft began in Japan during mid 1970s when real guns were prohibited by Japanese law. It then spread to China, Philippines, South Korea and later the United States of America. Today it has become a thriving hobby and the enthusiasts can check out the great deals on airsoft guns that are available online.

These guns are classified as “toys” and are divided into three groups such as spring powered, electric powered and gas powered. The spring-powered guns are often called springers. These are single-shot devices that use potential energy stored in a spring to launch an airsoft pellet down the barrel of the gun. The user must cock a spring gun prior to each shot just as you would do with a real shotgun or a bolt-action rifle. These guns are less suited for serious competitions for they do not provide enough accuracy and power for long-range uses.

The gas powered guns are capable of both automatic and semi- automatic operations. They use pressurized gas to propel the pellets. The gases that are commonly used include propane, nitrogen and carbon dioxide. Due to the mechanical complexities involved with distributing and regulating gas, the gas powered guns have now largely given way to electric guns.

The electric powered guns are popularly known as automatic electric guns or AEGs and are widely used in serious competitions. These guns are capable of both automatic and semi- automatic operations and are designed to be as realistic as possible. They use rechargeable batteries to drive an electric motor, which in turn cycles an internal piston to launch pellets. These guns were originally developed in Japan. Recent modifications in the exterior of these guns have given them a more realistic look and feel. These are indeed a must- have for any airsoft lover.

All these types of guns require very little maintenance. Their internal parts can very easily be replaced or upgraded.

It is advisable to use full face masks during airsoft matches. You should also protect your eyes adequately to prevent any sort of damage.

So all you airsoft enthusiasts out there just pick up one of these guns and have the greatest enjoyment of your lives!
